YARD SALE

In preparation for our cross-country move which is taking place THIS week, we decided to have a yard sale and sell basically everything we own.
Since we are driving, we won't have room for all of our stuff in our car.
We don't want to rent a moving van bc our stuff isn't really worth it, so we just decided to sell it all and replace it when we get to New York!

Here are some of the random household items we sold

First off, let me just tell you that yard sale people are caraaazyyyyy!!!
Like, the sale was advertised to start at 8am and we literally had people at our house at 6:45 digging through our stuff.
We were nervous that no one would come but we were very wrong.
At one point I had a line of people waiting for me to price their items!
The bargaining was the most frustrating part.
Like, people would come up to me with a pile of stuff and be like, "how much for all this?"
And I'd be like...."Um 5 bucks?"
And they would LAUGH at me, roll their eyes, and look at me like I was a huge idiot.
So then I'd say, "ok 3?"
Still with the laughing and scoffing.
"ok...1 dollar?"
STILL LAUGHING!!!!
ONE dollar??????? REALLLY??!!?
Why am I even having a yard sale? Why don't I just say "free stuff" and put it in my driveway?
The coolest thing that happened was when one of my neighbors came to look through the clothes. She picked up an old wedding dress I had bought at a thrift store for a costume party.

I don't know what's going on in this pic

After staring at the dress for a couple minutes she realized it was HER wedding dress!

She had given it to a different thrift store like, 20 years ago and somehow it ended up in my yard sale. Crazy coincidence.

Another funny thing happened when a girl walked up to the house with her guitar and asked if she could play at the yard sale.
Live entertainment? SURE, WHY NOT!

Best yard sale everrr.

By the time noon came around we were pretty pooped.

Here's Ty lying on the cement.

In the end it was worth it bc we made almost a $1000 bucks and got rid of a lot of old stuff!
I am weird and get attached to "stuff" so it was kind of hard for me to see things go...even stuff like old towels and used notebooks.
But it actually felt nice to purge my closet and house and just get down to the things we need.
Try it.

Brazilian Blowout

I have been wanting to do this hair treatment called the "Brazilian Blowout" for quite sometime now.
Especially bc we are moving to the east coast and the east coast equals humidity and humidity equals ugly, frizzy, hair that won't straighten.
So I researched online and found someone who would give me a good deal.
Let me just tell you...I LOVE IT!!!!!

Before:
This is not a dramatization. This is seriously what my hair looked like if I let it air dry. SAD. It wasn't straight, wasn't curly, and wasn't pretty. It was super frizzy and this is all multiplied by 100 in the humidity!!! I look like an 80s rocker.

After:
My stylist straightened it, but this is pretty much what it looks like when it air dries now!!!!!! Such a time saver/life saver!!!!!

My hair has never been this straight. It behaves exactly like it did before so I can curl it with a curling iron if I want and it'll look the same sans the frizz.
I always envied those people who could just let their hair air dry and have it look all perfect. So annoying.
But thanks to the BB, I am now that person : )
Bring it on humidity...bring it on.

I love technology

So I have never really been the most savvy person on earth when it comes to technology.
It took me a while to jump on the Facebook bandwagon and I could never get into Twitter.
BUT....
I have recently started using a few social networks/sites/apps that I absolutely LOVE and would like to share with all of you.
You'll be thanking me later : )

First and foremost:
Pinterest

OMGOSH. This site is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's like your own personal scrapbook of things you find online that you like and want to remember. It allows you to "Pin" things you see online that you like to a "board" that all of your followers can view. You can have as many boards as you want with different purposes like fashion, food, home...anything your heart desires! It is so fun to pin and also to see what cool things your friends have found.
I even get a little competitive with it and am like "Wait...she's pinned like 324,239,098 things in the last hour and I've only pinned like 324,239,091!!!! Must keep pinning!!!"
Ok that's probably just me...but trust me. This is FUNNN.
You have to be invited to use the site so put your email address in a comment and I'll invite you. Otherwise you have to wait like a week to join.

Next Fav thing:
Instagram

Have you ever been on Facebook or blog stalking and wondered, "how do those people put those cool effects on their pictures?" Again, probably just me.
BUT I have cracked the code! This is an phone app (not sure which phones can do it, I have an iPhone) that allows you to take pictures, add cool effects to them, and then upload them to a newsfeed so your friends can see. It automatically saves the images to the photo album on your phone so you can put them on Facebook or e-mail them to yourself. It makes taking pictures so fun and can make your crappy pictures look like little works of art. See:

And lastly but not leastly:
Beluga

Beluga is another phone app. It allows you to have group conversations called "pods" on your phone. It's like instant messaging but with a group of people and from your phone. And its free. You can have a bunch of different pods/convos going on at once. Its a quick and easy way to talk to your friends without having to text them individually. AND its way COOLER guys!!!!!

So there you have it. My guide to the latest and greatest.
Enjoy : )
